Great Thrush

This picture is of a female. This bird is a close relative of the American robin and has a very robin-like song. It is common at moderate altitudes in the Ecuadorean Andes. The male is darker and glossier and has an eye ring. It is certainly not a colorful bird, but, as with all birds, there is a lot of subtle detail in the plumage, some of which is captured in this photo.
