My Room at San Jorge

My Room at San Jorge

The rooms were simply but attractively furnished. Note the bird wall hanging to the right of the fireplace. The fireplace was a necessity as the nights get down to around 40°F, and there is no other source of heat. Also, it was quite damp during February and early March. This is the rainy season in Ecuador. The rooms had private baths, but the hotwater was problematical. They had electricity, but it was not reliable, as we were to find out, and the lighting was very dim. The bed was little more than a cot, and it had things that bit. The place had lots of charm, but it was somewhat lacking in modern conveniences.
