1Sandhill Crane (Antigone canadensis) Pair This pair was part of a much larger flock seen at the Cosumnes River Preserve of the Nature Conservancy in northern California on Nov 21, 2006.
2Sandhill Crane (Antigone canadensis) Pair in Flight Photographed at Taylor Marsh, Ontario County in western New York State on May 2, 2009. Taylor Marsh is a property of the Bergen Swamp Preservation Society. Sandhill cranes are still quite rare as breeders in New York State, but they may be on the increase. This pair has probably been present since the mid 90s, but there is no confirmation that they have bred, or even that they are of opposite sexes. They seem to be present all year around, including winter.
