Tufted Duck (Aythya fuligula) Male  This film photo was made at Irondequoit Bay near Rochester, NY in January, 1996. Tufted duck is a Eurasian species closely related to scaups which is a very rare visitor in the Rochester region. This individual was first seen at the mouth of the Genesee River in December, 1995. It stayed around for a couple of months and was seen at various points along the Lake Ontario shore.
