Curve-billed Tinamou	(Nothoprocta curvirostris) Photographed at Yanacocha Reserve, Pichincha Province, Ecuador March 3, 2006. We got incredibly lucky on this one. We were driving along when someone saw a bird flying and yelled. Although the bus driver didn't speak English, he had the good sense to stop. We all got out and spotted the bird on the ground in plain view only a few feet from the road at the edge of a steep drop-off. I think it was trying to hide by holding very still, but the strategy didn't work. It is not a great photo technically or artistically, but it may be the first photo of curve-billed tinamou on the Internet. It has been copied by a number of other websites, sometimes without permission and without giving me credit.
